This article will cover what to look for in inflatable pool slides depending on who will be using it and how it will be used. It will also give brief reviews of two popular pool slides. This should help you make a decision if you decide that you want a slide for your pool.

Inflatable pool slides seem to be divided into two categories.

There are slides that are made for young children and toddlers. These types tend to be smaller and often come as part of an inflatable play pool or swimming pool. They often have a play theme attached to them to spark a young child’s imagination.

The second type are aimed at older children and adults. Not surprisingly they are bigger, generally more robust and practical. They are all about delivering a great sliding experience and have features that make the sliding more fun. These types of slides usually require an in ground pool to use them properly.

The obvious problem with any inflatable device is that it is likely to become punctured through wear and tear. This seems kind of ironic for a slide as it is likely to get treated quite roughly by boisterous kids or adults. This is more likely to occur in the bigger slides. When selecting a slide, consider the thickness and durability of the surface material. You may also want to think about the number of separate air panels in the slide. The more air panels, the more stable your slide will be. They will also make it easier to fix if there is a puncture in one of the panels without the whole slide going down.

One of the more popular inflatable pool slides is the Intex waterslide. It measures 18 x 10 x 20 inches. It is well made. Some people have complained that it springs a leak very easily and others say they have had good use out of it. It has 8 heavy duty handles to move it around. This is important and a tear or leak is often created when it is being moved around. It also has 7 air chambers meaning any potential leak will be localized to one part of the slide. Easier for fixing too. This waterslide allows you to attach your garden water hose to the slide so that you can get a slippery surface (just like the park water slides !) This slide is made for children 6 years and up.

The Aviva waterslide is similar in shape to the Intex. The manufacturer claims that the slide is robust and can withstand people of up to 170 lbs and is made of sturdy PVC Vinyl, however there are quite a few comments that the slide developed leaks pretty soon after use. Other people say that they have used the slide without a problem for over 2 years.

The Aviva water slide has the same principle of attaching the garden water hose to the chute to create a slippery surface.

Both these inflatable pool slides come with repair patches.
